Babywearing is so much more than just a method for transporting your baby.

It is better understood as a holistic parenting tool. This one simple practice can positively impact everything from your baby’s development to your mental health and your ability to cope with the demands of daily life.

Research shows that babywearing reduces crying, promotes co-regulation, positively affects breastfeeding/chestfeeding outcomes, supports healthy hip development, and increases bonding and attachment between babies and caregivers. It also has a positive affect on maternal postpartum mental health and paternal caregiving engagement, leading to increased positive outcomes for the whole family.

Many of these benefits depend on good fit and positioning. Parents who seek support from a skilled babywearing educator have a better understanding of safe positioning and a better chance at reaping the many positive rewards of babywearing.

Why Hire a Babywearing Educator?

My name is Lyndsey (she/her). I am a mom of two and a Certified Babywearing Educator located in Victoria BC.

I began my journey to becoming a babywearing educator shortly after the birth of my first child. I remember finally working up the courage to put my four week old baby in my stretchy wrap and feeling them fall asleep instantly against my chest. Something about that moment felt so perfect that I completely fell in love with babywearing. Still, I was deep in the trenches of new motherhood (during a global pandemic, nonetheless), and learning about babywearing in isolation came with a steep learning curve and a lot of struggle.

This experience emphasized for me the importance of having supportive, compassionate care available for new parents. We are not meant to parent in isolation, but many of us have very little tangible support to lean on. As a babywearing educator, I hope to provide parents and caregivers with the support and encouragement they need to not only survive but to thrive.
